THE LIFE CYCLE of A WILD CARROT

When I moved to my new place a couple months ago, I noticed a feathery young plant sprouting from one of the pots on my doorstep.

I haven’t had time to take care of it more than watering it every few days, so I’ve been surprised at how it has thrived, despite my inattention – it’s now almost six feet tall!

It has several whitish umbral flowers that makes it look like many other wild plants, but what interests me is how the umbrals change, day to day.

At first they were kind of clumpy and clumsy, like a whitish blob someone threw away. They grew into flat, many-tiny-petaled blooms, with many tiny green support stems – one for each little floret.

Now, a few days later, the stems have curved, looking like eager young men holding their revered goddesses high above their little heads.

I’m assuming those wee florets will morph into seeds. We’ll see soon enough!

Do you enjoy watching the mini-changes plants go through, too? I could sit for hours watching them!

But then people would crack their invisible whips on me, and command, “Angela! Get to work on your website!”

And I will sigh, get up and go inside and slave and sweat for more eye-bending hours at a hot computer. Poor me. (LOL)
