One of my friends is experiencing hair loss, so I was doofing around tonight in my herbal remedy book, and came across the following info on Evening Primrose.
Which, besides being a really pretty plant, has a gajillion uses – from helping with arthritis to psoriasis, inflammation and menopause! I hope it helps you in one way or another!
The chapter about Evening Primrose in The Lost Book of Herbal Remedies has way more about this helpful plant than my little list here, so you’d be smart to check out the book itself (link is to its amazon page).
Here are some of the things Evening Primrose helps with:
• All parts of the evening Primrose are edible. [Don’t just go chomping on the plant – check which parts are for what use first!]
• Evening Primrose oil is made from the seeds.
• Evening Primrose oil helps relieve PMS, breast tenderness, water retention, bloating, acne, irritability, depression, moodiness, and headaches, and helps balance female hormones.
• Evening Primrose is useful in treatment for PCOS; helps with fertility; helps normalize the menstrual cycle, eases menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, moodiness, and ability to sleep.
• Evening Primrose is said to ‘attack’ hormonal causes of male pattern baldness, and alopecia in women. It helps slow or stop hair loss, and sometimes even helps hair regrowth.
• Evening Primrose helps with skin diseases like acne, eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. [If only I had known about this for my uncle years ago – he suffered terribly with psoriasis of the scalp.]
• Evening Primrose reduces inflammation, promotes healing, and relieves itchiness redness and scaling.
• Evening Primrose is good for osteoporosis, and arthritis.
• Evening Primrose is good for digestion and gastro-intestinal issues; as wellas whooping cough, asthma, allergies, blood pressure, neuropathy, and nerve pain.
