This remains a mystery!
You know how yesterday I said there are cattypillars chewing pretty little round holes in some of my Red Bud tree leaves?
I noticed something intriguing about them this morning: they only eat around the edges – like a little kid eating the crusts off his sandwich before he dives into the juicy rich middle goodies!
Only – I wonder if they will keep eating the edges, getting closer and closer to the center veins, without inching onto the leaf itself, and making holes in it.
As I looked tonight, even after chewing on the leaves all day, there are lots more edge holes, but still no holes in the centers of the leaves!
Sadly, the little red wild roses cascading down the vines nearby are almost all done – shriveling and drying out, poor little husks of their former beauty. I’ll miss them – they were like celebratory garlands decorating the tall, proud cypress trees.
