I’m including below a few things dandylions do for us. It makes me sad so many people rip them out of the ground, and spray and poison the soil with chemicals.
Maybe you don’t know this – dandies only come up in soil that needs nutrients. Their very presence means the soil where they are growing is sick and needs help!
I’ve seen it here – people in this area walk their dogs on the grass – they pee and poop, and the grass dies. Next thing I see is dandies sprouting up all over the place!
So here’s a little info about dandelion roots and leaves from an article I just read:
“Recent studies have shown that the dandelion root is cytotoxic against 3 types of human leukemia cells. It destroys cells within a couple days and stimulates the growth of new healthy cells.
A study by Dr. Hamm and his students:
They removed blood cells from 9 different patients who used root extract and applied it to several cells to cultivate them. Within 24 hours, the cells were killed.
Other studies found that dandelion extract can be potentially effective against melanomas, prostate and breast cancer.
Properties of dandelion root/leaves…
• Anemia… Dandelions have a fairly high content of iron, vitamins and proteins.
• Rich in calcium for bone growth and strength, and antioxidants vitamin C and luteolin, which protect bones from age-related damage.
• Dandelion juice can help diabetics by stimulating the production of insulin from the pancreas.
• Prevents urinary tract infections, as well as bladder and kidney disorders, or even cysts on the reproductive organs.
• Cleanses the liver and ensures proper function. Helps maintain proper bile flow. Rich in vitamin C; reduces inflammation and prevents disease.
• Dandelion promotes digestion, encourages appetite and balances natural and beneficial bacteria in the intestines.
• Dandelion juice is also used to treat skin diseases caused by microbial and fungal infections. The juice is highly alkaline and has insecticidal, bactericidal and fungicidal effects.
• This juice can be used for itching, shingles, eczema, etc.”
So let your dandies be!
