I grew up on a small harbor right off Long Island Sound. We used to go down to the little beach near our house and watch the 12-meter racing boats cruise into the harbor on their practice days. So exciting – they were so huge! One of them could have eaten my tiny 13′ boat […]

MY NEW BOOK!
A few weeks ago, I was approached by a not-so-very-well-known company that prints books, art prints and other arty products. They wanted me to submit a book of images for them to print. The deal was they’d give me $150 off the printing price in exchange for a review. I’m thinking, “Huh? 150 bucks? Who […]
Kailua Beach
This is my all-time favorite beach, Kailua Beach, looking from Lanikai side. There used to be a lot more ironwood tees, but the sand is gradually seeping away with every tide, undermining the roots, and they fall over and get cut away. It’s still a grand beach. In the distance is Kaneohe.
Weeping Willow
I love weeping willows. When I was a kid, I walked by a whole grove of them on my way home from school, and would sit under them for a long time to get my center back before I headed on home. Although I guess it would be pretty hard to sit under this one […]
The Green Windows
Inspired by a beautiful photo of a little village in France by my friend, Jean-marc Pierres. Thank you JM!!! The minute I saw Jean-marc Pierre’s photo of this place in France, I had to paint it! I loved the green shutters on the windows, the cypress trees, the streaky pinky sky, and those golden-hued walls.
The Red Path
Sometimes I just ache to get out in the woods and kick up the gorgeous red leaves and indulge in the yellows, golds and orange colors.
Dark Horse Rising
At first I thought this was way too dark to even be seen. But when you see the 11″ x 14″ giclée (print on canvas), it’s stupendous. My prints on paper are really beautiful … and then again, the giclées are 5 steps up in color and saturation. I love this!
Just Cruisin’
Plaza de Espana
I saw the original photo of this bridge and couldn’t help but want to paint it – the paintings (mural? tiles? mosaics?} on the side of the bridge were so colorful and the light was so golden – I love it!
Lavender Moon
Come Sit with Me
Come Sit with Me at the table out front! This was inspired by a beautiful photo taken by my friend, Jean-marc Pierres in France.

The Jacaranda Tree
The Jacaranda tree in all its splendor. We have a tiny little strip mall lined with these glorious trees. I love it when every one of them blooms at once!
Kailua Beach Afternoon
A crowded afternoon in the shade of the ironwoods after a perfect day swimming and playing at Kailua Beach!
The Hammock
Kayaking the Silent Morning
Kayaking in the silent morning, the ocean smooth as glass, the beach behind us quiet as dawn, looking to the outer islands…

Moody Big Island Evening
Royal Poinsetta Tree
Down the street from where I live is this luscious tree with its fabulous blanket of brilliant red flowers, blooming like a rock star year after year.
The Canopy
Looking up into the sun filtering through the canopy as we swing in the Hammock on a lazy, lazy day at the beach!
Under the Ironwoods
Kamanu Returns
The outrigger canoe clubs come down to practice in the afternoons, and this is the canoe, Kananu being brought back to its nest under the ironwood trees. You can see one of the Mokulua Islands in the far distance, past Lanikai.
Kailua Beach Picnic
Come sit in the shade and have some pupus with me! This is actually a painting of a painting of a photo I took a few years ago. Guess I like the way it feels like a sweet noon break under the Hau trees.
Across Kaneohe Bay
Sweet Afternoon
This is my own backyard! At sundown it’s filled with magnificent color and reflected light…how could I resist painting it?

The Pinky Peachy Tree
Can you guess that I love trees? This one is particularly appealing to me with its profuse bloom of pinky-peachy flowers, floating above a lovely garden of tulips and petunias in outrageous fuschia.
Caribbean Dream
An odd shaped sail on a little boat in the Caribbean. Believe it or not, that long sail is for real – the native sailors have used sails of this shape for generations.
Diamond Head
There aren’t many spots where you can see a view of the iconic Diamond Head crater like this without interruption of cityscape and people on the beach. Bet you can’t guess where I took the photo for this painting!
