Well, I don’t really have a garden – I have pots of plants that struggle through our hot, dry days and straggle their long fingers into the pathway across my front stoop.

COME WITH ME TO MY GARDEN! – © LYON 2026

But I love them, even if they are funky looking! One day I shall have a real garden again!

So in this design, I wanted to include the yarrow, the droppy bells plant whose name I don’t know, and a funny tall red-flowered thing that only blooms in August. I love them all.

It is said that plants can calm you, change your frequency, elevate your mood. I believe it.

But I think the one thing I love best about my plants is that when I focus on them, I’m not focusing on ME, my troubles or problems. All that falls away and I feel free and delighted and happy.

Such a simple thing, really – focus on something outside of yourself that you love, so the love has a chance to flow more easily.

We glue ourselves to our perception of ourselves so tightly we forget that our puny little lives are smaller than a single grain of sand on a miles-long beach.

What allows you to get distance from yourself the way plants do for me? Do it more often!
