When I was a kid, I looked up in the sky and wondered if the stars were pointy.

Would they stick or sting me if I touched them? Were they poisonous?

Thinking about that made me sad. So I decided stars were kind, and would let me ride on them. I made hundreds of drawings where the stars were horses, or bunnies, or strange critters no one knew what they were.

And on each one, there I sat with my arms thrust high in delight, waving my cowboy hat, my legs flying up in their starry stirrups, waving and hollering and cavorting across the star-filled night sky.
