As an empath, there are times when I feel so overloaded by happenings that I feel like a quivering mass of glommified human jelly. Useless for all except those who love hospital jello.

I bet I’m not the only one who feels like that a whole lot of the time – the world is burning down, flooding and washing away, and being buried under planet-fulls of snow, sleet and mud.

But despite appearances, it really ain’t the End! Want to know my Secret System to get out of feeling jellified?

Because I don’t recall EVER seeing so many destructive events all at once, do you? It’d be nice of the Nasty Brats running the Dark Forces would give us at least a tiny break in between events so we can catch our breath!

WHAT TO DO?

Sit down.
Let your butt push against the back of your chair.
Feets on the floor.
Close your eyes and take a wee breath, just to get present.

Now take a bigger breath, from your belly: imagine that you’re letting the air flow in from the bottom of your guts.

Let it fill your insides all the way up to the top of your head.

Hold it for a few beats – just a few – this isn’t a marathon!

As you breathe in and hold it, remember the events you are so boggled down by. See the images of news or reports or releases – hear the voices – feel the upset in your body. Just do a skim-over – don’t wallow in it!

Now in a very sudden, very loud breath, let it out like a monstrous strike of thunder: go HAH! and CLAP your hands as you do so.

Do it FAST!

Do that again, three times in all.

By the time you have let your HAH out the third time, your energy will have shifted.

Now just allow yourself to sit there and be calm.

Let the swirling energy juices in your body subside and settle.

As you do, cogitate on the things you’d much rather focus on. Your work, your art or music, your kids, or your honey pie, or your critters.

Think about how much you love that thing or person or being.

Think about/feel how wonderful that love feels, and let it sparkle and shimmer and shimmy around in your blood stream, lighting up every last one of your cells.

Let that fill you up.
Breathe in and out once more.

Now you can get up and go about a very different, very much more satisfying day. Or night.

So today as I was settling my energy, this design popped up. I was surprised, because there is no story to it – no critters, only a few flowers, lots of swirly curlies – it’s simply pretty.

And it made me feel so … well … like Everything Is OK.

I hope you see that, and feel that too.
